Parish Fundraising Team
(Editor’s Note: As a parish we are right to be ambitious with our plans for the future, but if we’re going to fulfil our plans, clearly we need to be able to fund them! ‘Cometh the hour, cometh the man’; or in this case women. Step forward Trisha and Gemma Barker who have offered to co-ordinate fund-raising activities for the parish). In their own words….
The parish has identified areas that require upgrading
New heating and a new and extended kitchen in the hall
In the church, special windows and a new organ
To do this the parish needs to raise over £30,000 which will require some serious fundraising and will give us opportunities to bring the parish together at more social events and to put St Michaels at the heart of the Ashtead community.
The Church Hall is in constant use thanks to the hard work of Jan Cassar who looks after the bookings and its upkeep. This much-used facility now needs upgrading and these changes will continue to make St Michaels Hall a desirable venue for hire, which in turn will generate more revenue for the parish.
The windows in the church have never been an attractive feature of what is a beautiful building. Funds are being sought to etch the windows in a way that would compliment the interior of the church and enhance our place of worship.
The parish has a strong and growing choir who would dearly love to have a new organ as the existing one is now showing signs of age. The Parish Team has identified the organ as a one of its fundraising priorities for this year.
So how can you help?
Firstly we have identified grants that the parish could apply for and we are looking for someone who would like to prepare these applications along with members of the Parish Team.
Secondly we have compiled a list of fundraising ideas including quiz nights, music concerts, curry nights and a parish cookbook to list just a few; all of these will need willing parish members to lead these events.
Finally you or your family could sponsor a window in the church.
If you would like to be a part of this exciting project please contact the fundraising team via the parish office.
